KMCC vs Studley Royal CC 2nd XI

KMCC crush Studley U13s

On a bleak yet dryish afternoon Bradley lost his second toss and KMCC were inserted at the SRCG. A couple of early wickets appeared to vindicate the decision and although the ship was then steadied when Dave Tudbury joined Iain at the crease the score was a precarious 65-4 with 20 overs to go. However, the KMCC batting line up is as deep as an Atlantic trench and Tudbury, 23, I Fraser, 42 and then a captains innings by Brad of 62no saw KMCC rampage in the latter stages of the innings, lit up by a huge six by Duncan (off a poorly disguised slower ball). KMCC 236-6 at tea.

Studley never looked liked making a game of it as Richard Hooks' first spell yielded 1-2 from 6 overs. At 40-4 total humiliation was on the cards and although a brief renaissance by the 5th wicket pair pushed the score towards the 100 mark and then a heavy shower threatened abandonment, first KMCC wickets from an erratic Gardener and then some "wabbit hunting" by Richard "Elmer" Hooks(4-2) saw Studley's increasingly diminutive batting line up capitulate to 93 all out. The next weekend brings the Jubilee celebrations and Lofthouse to Kirkby followed by the Jubilee game to be played on the Sunday - a match graced by three veterans of the Silver Jubilee match 25 years ago.
