KMCC bite back
Once again Staveley felt reeped the whirlwind of KMCC's shock defeat against Blubberhouses the week before. This time the toss was lost and KMCC were inserted on a wet and windy day - the openers were quickly dispatched back to the pavilion and it looked as if another shock was on the cards. However, KMCC are made of sterner stuff these days and firstly Fraser and Fettes, 27 and then veteran Rod Pickles hauled KMCC back into the match until a thunder shower at 105-3 after 25 overs appeared to turn the match back in Staveleys favour. The advantage of an early tea and tillage bag covers was made apparent as Iain Fraser gave a master class in wet weather batting blasting 107no as Rod and the Staveley bowlers could only look on in awe. KMCC finished up on 199-3.
The match was over as a competition within four overs of the Staveley reply as Raistrick and Goldsmith ripped out the top 4. Six points were guaranteed thanks to another six wicket haul from the demon paceman, Goldsmith as Staveley were dispatched for one run less than the corresponding fixture earlier on in the season. Given the rain, this could mean that KMCC have jumped back into 3rd spot in the league and with a crucial run of 3 matches against top teams to come its all there for the taking!!!
