KMCC vs Pateley Bridge C.C.

KMCC succumb again

KMCC lost the toss on a bright day at one of the most picturesque grounds in the dales and were put in to bat much to the relief of the skipper given the threadbare nature of the bowling line-up. His smiles soon changed to a worried frown as first Rod was bowled round his legs and then once again a dodgy umpiring decision saw Iain sent back when comfortably set. The wickets continued to fall steadily however Harford-Cross stuck to his guns at the other end and a reasonable score seemed possible as the score progressed to 82-3 at the half way stage. Two further wickets opened up the tail and although Harford-Cross was still there it was not long until the innings was brought to a premature end on 127 - H-C joining an elite band who had carried their bat for KMCC on 71no

KMCC stuck resolutely to their task in the field and although a sumoesque dropped catch off Duncans bowling in the first over took the wind out of the sails Duncan and Rod kept a halt on the run rate for much of their stint. The poor quality of the second string however would always make the going tough in the absence of Hooks, Gouty, Elsworth and the Cat and so it proved with the Pateley batsmen now scoring freely from the plethora of pies that were served up by H-C et al. Rod grabbed a quick wicket at the end to prevent a whitewash but it was too little too late as Pateley cantered home by 9 wickets. The arrival of the Cat in time for Ripley at home next week will surely turn the tables for a new look KMCC?
