KMCC vs Pannal C.C. 2nd XI

Relegation Fodder steam rollered by stung Kirkby

 KMCC were still reeling from the lash of the captains tongue following the previous weeks defeat when they arrived at Pannal's ground for their league clash. True to his word that "heads would roll", Brad axed himself for both weekend fixtures and relegated himself to spectator (at the challenge cup final) and then scorer (and male consort to the incomparable Mrs Heard). However, Brad's statement to the press that Pannal 2nds were "relegation Fodder" had clearly shattered any remaining self esteem in the Pannal line up and despite Duncan bowling with his head still on the beach it wasn't long until Peter Kirk (3-33) and Mike Armer (5-23) had blown away the Pannal batting within 23 overs for a feeble 87.

 The Pannal samovar had not yet reached the boil and the cucumber sandwiches were not yet finely sliced and so it was agreed to turn the game round immediately in the hope that the runs would be knocked off to give the appropriate brewing time to produce a perfect cup of tea. Kirkby managed the task with few alarms, Harford-Cross making 33 and Fielder, eventually recovered from the DT's to hit an unbeaten 36, as the target was reached in 20 overs with 7 wickets in hand. There was sufficient time for the long anticipated cup of tea before the team began contemplating the stiffer challenges remaining, starting with Stainley away next week.
