KMCC vs Pannal C.C.

KMCC struggle to early defeat

KMCC short of several top players stuttered to defeat in their first match in the top division despite a perky start. After losing the toss and being put into field - a familiar opening attack of Duncan and Goldie set to work against fancied Pannal. Despite several dropped chances Duncan quickly made inroads into the Pannal batting dismissing their overseas signing at the third time of asking and reducing Pannal to 51-4. With Rod and Brad, 13 making up a new look change attack the Pannal middle order was able to restore some degree of order despite wickets from both bowlers and as soon as Goldie returned it appeared that KMCC had snatched their first point of the season before tea when the exemplary Dujon snaffled their no 11 caught behind. Shocking umpiring - which was to continue later on robbed Goldie of a four wicket hall and Pannal stuck it out for the remaining two overs 187-9 at tea.

Charles and Rod then gave a fine impression of test match batting struggling to score at much more than 1 an over for the first 15 until Iain came to the crease and despatched the change bowling to all parts - three run outs including Iain on 43 (made by an umpire with eyes in the back of his head) contributed to Kirkby's failure to record victory. However Matthew, guesting despite a transfer to Studley, saw out the opening bowlers to secure a point. KMCC 147-9
