KMCC batsmen make runs while the sun shines
A festival of cavalier stroke play by the KMCC batsmen enabled a massive total of 347-7 to be amassed on the first sunny day of the season. Off to a rapid start, Dujon decided to up the rate and smashed his first ball for six, he then proceeded to assault the bowling as he raced to 33 before ending his cameo innings with a freakish dismissal (Bowled off his trailing leg). This was a pre-cursor to an innings of power and agression by Paul Gardener, only four matches into his Kirkby career. Unfazed by signing for such a prestigious side he teared the demoralised Pannal bowling apart, making 116 in only 84 deliveries and putting on 113 for the third wicket with Charles H-C, 58. A mini collapse (from 200-2 to 236-6) prevented the four hundred mark being passed but Veteran Fraser,I batting in the unaccustomed position of number 8 gave the captain a timely reminder of his abilities cruising to 54 no at tea. Goldsmith weighing in with his third red inker of the season so far, much to Shedley's approval.
The expected collapse of Pannals innings failed to materialise until the 35th over when the second wicket fell to Goldie taking his first three wicket haul of the year. However, it was too little too late as Pannal held out for no points despite a little helmet rattling from RH who was in feisty form with the ball. Final score 192-7.
