KMCC vs Ouseburn C.C.

Fettes Masterclass

The third successive score in excess of 200 saw KMCC romp to victory over an understrength Ouseburn side. Shedley lost the toss and was inserted on a reasonable looking strip. It didn't take long for the KMCC openers to nearly run each other out attempting a quick single (only saved by the keeper inexplicably deciding to throw to the other end instead of removing the bails). Another 50 partnership by KMCC's equivalent to Greenidge and Haynes took the score to 71-1 from the first 18 overs but the fireworks were yet to come. H-C departed on 51 quickly followed by Dujon - freshly back from the Nasser Hussain Hospital for broken fingers, and then The Big Cheese started to wield his willow like a man possessed - steadily at first but finally culminating in a run fest only seen before this year at unfortunates Pannel. In the 45th over Brad unselfishly pushed a single (when 36 was on the cards) and Cheesy scrambled to his first century under the "charging cavalier" pennant of KMCC. 253-4 at tea.

The Ouseburn response was measured and although losing a wicket in the first over - and controversially turning down a blatant run out shortly after - there was little to excite the capacity crowd. For their part Ouseburn never looked quite up to the chase and a couple of dropped catches prevented Kirkby fully going for the throat and shooting out the Ouseburn tail. Fettes and Hinchliffe weighed in with a couple of wickets each and 5 points to KMCC.
