KMCC vs Killinghall C.C.

Killinghall rain on Kirkby's parade

On a day more suited to woolly jumpers, jackets and ducks KMCC initially struggled against against champions, Killinghall. Three quick wickets and runs at a snails pace made it look as if rain would be the only thing to save KMCC from humiliation. Brad, 54 had other ideas and lustily smashed the Killinghall attack all round the ground as the rain began to hammer down. He eventually succumbed but the Fraser twins kept the momentum going and a score of 174-5 on a wet wicket looked above par at tea.

The Killinghall openers were never troubled however and eased the ball around the ground without ever taking chances. An early LBW shout and a grounded snick to the keeper apart were rare exceptions. Peter Kirk took the only wicket late on with a sharp caught and bowled but KMCC would have preferred an afternoon in the pub and an extra point. Pateley Bridge travel to the KMCG next week in a vital relegation 12-pointer.
