KMCC vs Knaresborough Forest C.C.

KMCC triumph at last despite depleted bowling attack

A KMCC line up depleted by the loss of four first choice bowlers through injury and holiday took on a similarly weakened ten man Knaresborough Forest who were albeit buoyed by the first appearance of their Aussie star. Duncan and Goldie led the attack from the front as the only first team regulars and restricted scoring in the early overs. The second string attack put their heart and soul into restricting the Knaresborough batting which Aussie apart never looked to take control. Goldsmith and Fraser returned at the end of the innings to restrict the final total to 170-5.

A couple of early wickets put added pressure on Fraser and Kiffer to compile a decent stand but all seemed to be going well until I Fraser departed LBW on 41. Duncan then ably assisted the prolific Nattress, 58no to take the score to within shouting distance with only 3 overs to go and Goldsmith took the man of the match plaudits despatching 19no from 5 balls to ensure there were no final over hiccoughs. A much needed victory for KMCC ensures they remain above the trapdoor positions with over half the season gone.
