 Very much a curates egg of a game - good in parts - KMCC fought hard and the game could have been much closer had it not been for the carnage dealt out in the last 4 overs. Losing the toss and fielding KMCC had made steady inroads thanks to some tight bowling by P Kirk and some great catching - at 143-3 Hampsthwaite had been reined in from a great start and crucially at that point catches didn't quite go to hand or were dropped. Kenny Crack profited and even with 4 overs to go and the score a shade over 200 a total of around 230 looked as if it would be par. However like a rampaging viking, Crack put the bowling to the sword sparing noone and smiting 70 runs to take the score to an unassailable 271-6

 The KMCC openers keen to avoid the flurry of early wickets that often occurs after a pasting in the field saw off the bulk of McKittricks overs and by the time Fielder and Fraser,24 had established themselves it looked as if securing a point would be straightforward. When Fraser was controversially run out however the lower order collapsed and it was left to Fielder to ease KMCC to the 181 required with the tail. In the last over with only 1 further required and 8 wickets down Fielders long vigil eventually ended on 86. Rod used all his experience to scramble the single required and Shedley with a cool head dug out the yorkers to ensure KMCC left the HCG with a vital point.
