KMCC vs Goldsborough C.C.

KMCC succumb

To Goldsborough the scene was set - the championship was theirs, all that was required was 6 points from Kirkby on the last day of the season and from the very start it was apparent that KMCC had read and digested the script. Losing the toss for the 19th time this season (odds against 1577-1) and being inserted enabled Goldsborough Paceman, Ayers to start dismantling the KMCC batting depleted by Rodneys accidental sojourn around harrogate. It went from bad to worse as KMCC slumped steadily from 1-2, to 33-3 and finally 84 all out - not a display that would have heartened the hearts of Alne supporters everywhere.

The match was rapidly dispatched with despite the loss of a few wickets by Goldsborough and all that was left to do was an ad hoc end of season Wrestling tournament to carry. A dissapointing end to a good season which saw KMCC climb with relative ease away from the nightmare of a relegation dogfight.
