Record partnership and rain dance saves KMCC
KMCC arrived at Goldsborough buoyant after their epic victory over Alne kept them out of the relegation zone the previous week and praying that on a scorching day and missing 3 bowlers that they would bat first. Brads heart fell as the coin landed heads to his tail and no sign of Keeper, Briscombe, and superstar fielder, Tufnell however the Goldsborough skipper also missing one bowler was looking to take early wickets and to Brads relief KMCC were inserted. The relief was shortlived however as Shorter ripped out the first five KMCC wickets to see them reeling at 56-5 and an early end to proceedings seemed likely. The Fraser twins came riding out of the pavilion like two Arthurian knights to the rescue of a damsel in distress on the back of two white stallions and set about the black knight in the form of the Goldsborough bowlers to restore first some order, then hope and then a chance of parity at tea as they put on 101, a record for the sixth wicket. However, once Iain, 58, and Duncan, 68, had been unceremoniously dismounted the innings rapidly subsided and the deathly pallor returned to the Skippers face with four overs remaining when seeking a point last man Shedley was run out in ridiculous fashion attempting a quick single. It seemed as if Lancelot had been exiled and a pestilence had fallen upon the land as the clouds clamped down and a sickly mist swept over the shire.
This turned out to be in Kirkby's favour as only 6 overs into the Goldsborough reply the heavens opened and the match was abandoned to the consternation of the black knight.
