Goldsborough batting overpowers KMCC

 Confident following victory over Alne the previous week, Armer won the toss for the first time as captain and elected to bat. Nattress,24 and Fielder,66 were the pick of the top order and once again looked confident guiding the team to a solid base however a couple of wickets in the middle order saw the innings in danger of crumbling at 82-4. With Fielder and Fraser,D at the crease a stand was required and to Kirkby's good fortune some lax catching gave Duncan the chance he needed to get settled at the crease. There then followed a period which the members of the bowling club live in fear of, as the ball nestled alongside the jack on several occasions and although the fireworks were ended prematurely with Duncan run out on 59 a final total of 187-8 looked competitive on a slow low early season pitch.

 Whilst the teams were enjoying an excellent tea the heavens opened and the pitch was sprinkled with a light rain. This proved detrimental to the Kirkby cause as the new ball quickly evolved into a slippery piece of flannel and no control was exerted by the bowlers. D Cummings played well for a classy 54 and was then pouched by James "Soft Hands" Marston diving to his left in the gully. Goldsborough then proceeded to knock the runs off in quick time and despatched the last two balls of the innings for six to end a miserable day in the field for KMCC.
