KMCC make hay while the sun shines
After a week of sun and a scorching day in prospect, Shedley did the decent thing, won the toss and elected to bat. The Galphay attack, John Nattress excepted, failed to contain the KMCC line up which despite the loss of regular wickets (and notable ducks from Galphay old boys, Dujon and Steve Johnson) cruised to an impressive total of 222-8 at tea. The highlight of the innings being a quick fire big hitting 47 from only 8 overs by Brad. Mark "Cheesy Pimp" Fettes provided the backbone of the innings with a classy 61.
Despatching the Galphay batsman proved to be like taking candy from a baby by the inspired Blackburn, who removed opener "kiffer" Nattress in the first over and finished with figures of 4-9. He was ably assisted by Rodney "the rocket" Pickles who teased his way to 4-4. The champagne moment however came with the score on 41-9, Will Pickersgill (who'd proclaimed he'd block the remaining 20 overs out no problem) was run out by a direct hit from cover point by veteran Iain Fraser to end the match with a Kirkby victory by 181 runs. A first victory of the season and a super display all round left KMCC in good spirits for the challenges ahead.
