KMCC vs Darley C.C.

KMCC batting collapses

KMCC arrived full of confidence to face Darley after their recent run of good form, won the toss and elected to bat. The Darley bowling was their for the taking and the KMCC batsmen fluffed their lines in spectacular fashion through poor application and shot selection. Cat fell in the first over quickly followed by C H-C in the third. A brief respite in the clattering wickets saw Iain and Phil looking comfortable at 30-2 but it proved to be a false dawn. Wickets fell regularly from then on with most batsmen hiding their heads at the mode of dismissal the innings ending on 114 all out.

Ben Kirk on his birthday gave KMCC some hope with a hostile opening first spell ripping out the top two and unsettling Darleys Aussie - having him caught off a no-ball and playing and missing at regular intervals. Just when it appeared as if he had weathered the storm Goldie appeared and dismissed him at the cost of the skippers webbing. Another quick wicket followed and if a couple of chances had gone to hand at 60-4 then there was still a chance of victory. However, despite the best efforts of the Cat, at his economical best, and Duncan, who grabbed a late wicket - Darley eased themselves to victory with five wickets in hand. The battle to avoid relegation continues back at the KMCG with the hope of snatching victory against Hampsthwaite.
