Waterlogged KMCC sink without trace
A rain swept KMCG was the scene for Kirkby's second straight defeat. KMCC lost the toss and were inserted and after the fall of a couple of early wickets Fraser and Pickles steadily took the total above 100. Although Pickles departed just after completing his second successive fifty the score seemed to be ticking along sufficiently nicely that 200 was on the cards however this was not the kind of wicket to come in on and immediately spray caribbean style shots all over the park from ball one and despite Fraser,I making a creditable 73 the final score of 174-7 looked a shade low.
The second innings can only be described as miserable as wave upon wave of light rain swept the pitch, never quite hard enough to go off for too long but always of the soul-sapping variety as the fielders were soaked to the skin. Although the bowlers stuck to their tasks, as the light deteriorated the Burton top order guided them inorexorably towards victory, when the end came most of the fielders were just glad to make it into the showers.
