KMCC vs Blubberhouses C.C.

Dubious umpiring swings tide against resiliant KMCC

A match which was building up to a tense finish was effectively killed off in favour of the home side as three controversial LBW decisions were given against a KMCC side which huffed and puffed to keep on course with the 211-7 that had been set by a rampant Blubberhouses batting line up earlier in the day. A quick start by the KMCC openers brought the first nightmare decision as shedley was adjudged to be in front and KMCC slipped to 36-1. The score was still within reach however when I.Fraser strode to the wicket in the 18th over and proceeded to strike the ball to all parts until once again Uncle Festa's trigger finger struck. From then on 10 man KMCC were up against it and although 52 from H-C and a sprightly knock from the junior Fraser twin kept Blubberhouses sweating KMCC simply did not have enough left in the tank. Insult was added to injury as veteran runmaker Rod Pickles was triggered for 0. However it is worthy of note that Raistrick made an unfortunate double this season by being bowled in both matches for 0 without attempting a stroke on either occasion. In fairness 211 may have been too much even without the decisions as the Blubberhouses bowlers kept a tight line throughout but now we'll never know.
