KMCC vs Blubberhouses C.C.

KMCC get off to a winning start

Under the new captaincy of Bradley Atkinson, who had bitten the bullet and axed the long term sick former captain Shedley relegating him to the job of chief scorer, KMCC won the toss and for the first time in over a year elected to field. Richard Hooks, a hybrid New Zealander who is eligible to play for England was unveiled as the new pace bowler to replace the irreplaceable Tufnell, however it was left to Duncan and Goldie, returning to the fold after a years loan spell at Ripon, to open the bowling. The Blubberhouses innings started promisingly enough however the introduction of the kiwi debutant and senior pro Rod Pickles now in his 85th season, turned the match in KMCC's favour and although the Blubberhouses tail wagged briefly at tea KMCC were the happier side. Blubberhouses 139-8

An early hiccup at the start of the KMCC innings saw 3 quick wickets fall, however the cool heads of the Fraser twins (Iain, 25, Duncan 57no) saw the pendulum swing back in KMCCs favour and after Iain succumbed Goldie arrived on the scene to hit the winning runs and take the plaudits. And thus ended a rare first day of the season victory for KMCC.
