KMCC vs Alne C.C.

KMCC topple title pretenders

Blue moon: KMCC win at Alne (again)

A KMCC team bristling with intent after a mediocre start to the 1999 season travelled to Alne C.C. eager to turnover the early pacesetters in division 2. For the first time all season Captain Shed won the toss and inserted Alne on what looked to be a batsmans paradise. And so it proved as the Alne openers scored freely from D.Frasers early overs. However an inspired bowling change from the skipper which brought Haigh into the limelight (and the wickets) coupled with aggressive pace bowling from Goldsmith at the other end saw Alne tottering at 84-4. A stand of some note for the fifth wicket brought the home team back into the game, however late wickets for Fettes and Blackburn restricted the final total to a respectable 183-8

The task of knocking off the runs turned out to be childs play as firstly captain Shed(29) laid into the opening attack. Atkinson(79) and Fettes(46no) took KMCC to within site of target until a mix up between the wickets brought Atkinsons swashbuckling innings to a close. It was not long however until Mark'the big cheese' Fettes was despatching the Alne opening bowler onto the roof of their pavilion to bring Kirkby home with overs and seven wickets to spare.
