KMCC batsmen fail to provide total for bowlers to defend

 The rise and rise of Chris "Kiffer" Nattress continued on Saturday against Alne, only a few short years ago he was plying his trade in the nether regions of the league but following his high profile transfer to cricketing giants KMCC it has taken only 1000 league runs and two seasons to establish himself as a key performer at the top table of the Nidderdale league and into the upper echelons of the KMCC management structure. Against Alne he took on the leagues top job as skipper of KMCC in the absence of the talismanic Duncan Fraser and true to the form of all prior captains lost the toss and was inserted on a wet and very sticky wicket at the KMCG. The Alne bowlers made the most of the conditions and strangled the Kirkby innings from the start with no bowler conceding more than 20 runs, Nattress top scored with 23 and a point was eaked out despite Dujons ongoing hamstring troubles 93-8 though was not the imposing total required (160 would have been a challenging target in the conditions).

 Faced with an uphill struggle the KMCC bowlers refused to lie down and die but despite a couple of early breakthroughs Alne were arrowing in on the target with apparent ease at 89-4. Hearts then fluttered as three wickets fell on 89 and a couple of chances went begging on the same score as the pressure told on the Alne lower order. It proved too little too late though as the final four runs were scrambled and KMCC lost their third game in sucession. KMCC visit Bishop Thornton next saturday with victory vital given the upcoming fixtures.
